Greek Foreign Minister Georgios Gerapetritis held a telephone conversation with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, referring to the continuation of the United States’ illegal and aggressive actions against Iran—including the ongoing maritime blockade and the violation of the understanding dated 18 June—reaffirmed Iran’s determination to defend its national interests and security.

Araghchi also outlined the latest status of bilateral negotiations with Oman aimed at establishing safe passage routes for vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that the current insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of the military aggression carried out by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, and that the international community must hold the aggressor and law-breaking parties accountable for this situation.

Recalling the European Union’s dual and hypocritical approach to human rights—particularly the comprehensive support provided by certain European parties to the Zionist regime and their indifference toward the genocide of Palestinians and the war crimes committed by that regime in Lebanon and Iran—Araghchi rejected interventionist statements issued against Iran under the pretext of human rights. He emphasized that, given its own record in the field of human rights, the European Union lacks any moral standing to lecture others.

The Greek Foreign Minister expressed support for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and declared his country’s readiness to provide any technical and expert assistance.

Both sides underscored the importance of continuing existing consultations and safeguarding the longstanding relations between the two countries.
