Iranian and Pakistani FMs meet in Bishkek

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to Kyrgyzstan to participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, met and held talks with Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the summit this afternoon.

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to Kyrgyzstan to participate in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, met and held talks with Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the summit this afternoon.

During this meeting, bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan, as well as regional and international developments, were discussed and exchanged.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while thanking Pakistan for its gracious efforts and mediating endeavors over the past few months, described America's treaty-breaking and excessive demands as the main factor behind the current situation in the region. While condemning the United States' attacks on Iran's vital infrastructure, he emphasized the Islamic Republic's determination to defend Iran's sovereignty and national interests.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran also assessed the strengthening of cooperation among the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as highly important—serving as a means to reinforce multilateralism and prevent the increasing erosion of international norms and institutions resulting from America's bullying and unilateralist approach.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, while emphasizing the necessity of respecting Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, declared his country's readiness to help prevent the escalation of the situation by utilizing all diplomatic capacities.
