Iran rejects baseless allegations of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General

Esmail Baghaei spokesperson for Irans Ministry of Foreign Affairs categorically rejected the allegations raised in the press statement of the Secretary-General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) regarding the Islamic Republic of Irans conduct during the US-Israeli imposed war and reaffirmed Irans commitment to the principle of good neighborliness and respect for the national sovereignty of all its neighbors.

Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, categorically rejected the allegations raised in the press statement of the Secretary-General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran's conduct during the US-Israeli imposed war, and reaffirmed Iran's commitment to the principle of good neighborliness and respect for the national sovereignty of all its neighbors.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, referring to the internationally unlawful action of certain PGCC member states in participating in the US-Israeli regime's military aggression against Iran, reminded: Despite acknowledging their international legal obligation to prevent aggressors from using their territory and facilities to attack Iran, these governments not only took no action to prevent this, but some of them even actively participated in the military aggression against Iran—which constitutes an act of aggression under the UN General Assembly's Definition of Aggression (Resolution No. 3314). Consequently, these governments have effectively rendered themselves complicit with the US and Israel in committing heinous crimes against the Iranian people.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also rejected the contents of the PGCC Secretary-General's press statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing: The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the coastal state of the strait, has adopted practical and proportionate arrangements aimed at defending itself against aggressive acts by the US-Israeli regime and its supporters, countering threats and the use of force against Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensuring safe passage—arrangements that are fully consistent with relevant rules of international law.

Baghaei further added regarding the matter of confidence-building among regional countries: The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a pioneer in building confidence among regional countries and has called on all to refrain from divisive positions and behavior. At the same time, confidence-building is a two-way path, and PGCC member governments must take the necessary steps to gain Iran's confidence. This requires, above all, compensation for the damages and harms inflicted upon our people through their participation in the US and Israeli regime's military aggression against Iran, as well as refraining from cooperation and complicity with Iran's enemies.
