..

French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot and Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held a telephone conversation to discuss and exchange views on regional developments, as well as the security and economic repercussions of the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, detailing the crimes committed by the United States and the Israeli regime during their month-long military aggression against Iran, strongly criticized the stance of certain European countries that have expressed concern solely over the economic consequences of this imposed war while remaining silent regarding the aggressors' brutal attacks on the Iranian people.

Iran’s Foreign Minister emphasized the continuation of Iran’s defensive operations against the aggressors, including against their military bases and assets situated in the territory of regional countries, stating: The reason for Iran’s defensive operations in the region is the United States’ use of the territory, bases, and facilities located in these countries to wage an illegal war against Iran.

Araghchi, stressing that the primary source of the insecurity imposed upon the Strait of Hormuz is the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, added that this waterway is closed to vessels belonging to parties involved in the military aggression against Iran. He stated that this decision is based on principles of international law and aims to prevent the aggressors from exploiting the Strait of Hormuz to carry out unlawful attacks against Iran. Meanwhile, vessels belonging to other countries are transiting in coordination with competent Iranian authorities.

Iran’s Foreign Minister further emphasized that any provocative action by the aggressors and their supporters, including in the United Nations Security Council regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, will only serve to further complicate the situation.

The French Foreign Minister underscored his country’s position opposing the imposed war against Iran and attacks on civilian targets.

He also expressed concern over the escalating situation in the region, including in Lebanon, and stressed the need to enhance political and diplomatic efforts to find a solution to end the war and restore stability and security to the region.

The Foreign Ministers of Iran and France also exchanged views on certain consular matters and emphasized the continuation of diplomatic engagement between the two countries at various level
