Iran says Yemens territorial integrity must be protected

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei has responded to journalists’ questions about recent developments in Yemen saying the Islamic Republic of Iran is closely monitoring security developments in southern and eastern Yemen.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei has responded to journalists’ questions about recent developments in Yemen, saying the Islamic Republic of Iran is closely monitoring security developments in southern and eastern Yemen. Baqaei added that Iran also calls on all involved parties to exercise restraint and, with consideration for the interests of the Yemeni people and regional security, resolve current issues through dialogue.

 

He underlined the necessity for collective regional efforts to preserve Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity, noting that the Islamic Republic considers any action that could exacerbate instability in Yemen and insecurity in the region unacceptable.

 

Baqaei underlined that Iran sees the only solution to the Yemen crisis as comprehensive dialogue, implementing a roadmap, and forming an inclusive government within the framework of Yemen’s territorial unity and integrity.
