Iran’s FM meets with state secretary of Belarusian National Security Council

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi who is on an official visit to Belarus met on Monday evening with the countrys State Secretary of the National Security Council Alexander Volfovich.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation in multiple fields, including security and international security.

 

The Belarusian official referred to the shared view of Iran and Belarus on the necessity of respecting the principles and rules of international law and multilateralism as essential for maintaining global security. Volfovich also stressed the importance of mutual support between Belarus and Iran on matters of common interest, particularly within international organizations.

 

The top Iranian diplomat described strengthening relations with like-minded and independent developing countries, including Belarus, as a priority of Iran’s foreign policy. Araghchi also pointed to the establishment of various operational mechanisms to facilitate the implementation of agreements concluded between the two countries over the past two years. He said the outlook of Iran-Belarus relations is very positive and described bilateral cooperation and coordination in the field of security as one of the capacities that can be leveraged to expand ties.

 

The two sides further addressed international developments and discussed the need for cooperation and coordination between the two countries to prevent the normalization of lawlessness and the increasing violation of the UN Charter and international law.

 

The Iranian foreign minister also appreciated Belarus’s principled stance and its condemnation of the military attacks by the US and the Israeli regime against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, as well as the violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
