FM Araghchi meets with Iranian envoys in Mashhad stresses regional diplomacy

The ambassadors of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the countries of Central Asia Russia Pakistan India Iraq and Afghanistan—who attended the Second Regional Diplomacy Conference held in the holy city of Mashhad—met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

During this working session, which was also attended by relevant deputy ministers, participants discussed the latest regional developments, bilateral relations between Iran and their respective countries of mission, as well as key topics and programs on the agenda for advancing regional diplomacy.

 

Araghchi elaborated on current issues pertaining to Iran’s foreign policy—particularly regarding neighboring countries. He underscored the importance of pursuing the regional diplomacy agenda as a concrete step toward the implementation of the policy of good-neighborliness.

 

Araghchi urged Iranian ambassadors to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the Second Regional Diplomacy Conference in Mashhad to familiarize themselves more closely with the diverse economic and commercial capacities of the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, North Khorasan, and South Khorasan.

 

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the ambassadors’ engagement with provincial authorities—particularly governorates, chambers of commerce, and free trade zones in Iran’s eastern provinces—with a view to removing obstacles and promoting closer relations with neighboring countries to the east and northeast. The Foreign Minister further highlighted the crucial regulatory, facilitative, and enabling role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in advancing the country’s foreign economic relations.

 

In conclusion, the participating ambassadors presented their views and proposals aimed at enhancing economic and trade relations with neighboring countries.
