Iranian FM meets with Chinese deputy FM on sidelines of BRICS Summit

On the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Brazil China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu held a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi during which the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between Tehran and Beijing.

 


On the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Brazil, China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu held a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi during which the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between Tehran and Beijing.

They also discussed the latest international developments, especially in West Asia, including the consequences of recent military aggression by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran.

Iran’s foreign minister highlighted the dangerous and destructive consequences of these military aggression and the attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. He underscored the Islamic Republic of Iran’s firm and resolute determination to defend its sovereignty and security and to hold the aggressors accountable.

Araghchi also pointed to the serious implications of these aggression on the principles and objectives of the UN Charter and the NPT, stressing the responsibility of all independent states and the UN Security Council to safeguard global peace and security.

China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated his country’s condemnation of the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran and expressed China’s serious concern about the escalation of tensions and instability in the region.

He further stressed China’s readiness to continue close cooperation with Iran at bilateral and multilateral levels, particularly within BRICS and the UN frameworks for the purpose of helping reduce tensions and support regional peace and stability.
