Assistant to Iran's Foreign Minister and Director General for Asia and Oceania at the Iranian Foreign Ministry Aliasghar Mohammadi has condemned the Australian government’s support for the aggression by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran, describing it as a clear example of Australia’s double standards.
He stressed that the military aggression by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran’s infrastructure, residential areas, and peaceful nuclear facilities, which led to the martyrdom of a number of Iranian military figures and civilians, including innocent women and children, constitutes a blatant violation of the UN Charter, the fundamental principles of international law, the non-proliferation regime, UN Security Council Resolution 2231, and other international rules banning any attack on peaceful nuclear facilities.
Referring to Australia’s longstanding claim of being a supporter of peace and the rule of law, the director general for Asia and Oceania at the Foreign Ministry said when confronted with the blatant aggression by the Zionist regime and the US against Iran, the Australian government faced a test between upholding truth and the rule of law on the one hand, and supporting aggression and the violation of law on the other, and it failed this test.
Mohammadi further warned of the dangerous and negative consequences of the approach by governments such as Australia in supporting aggressors, which only encourages them to continue such actions and escalates tensions at the regional and international levels. He added that justice and logic dictate that if these countries lack the moral courage to condemn the clear aggression of the Israeli regime and the US, they should at the very least remain silent.
