Iranian Polish FMs discuss regional developments over phone

Irans Minister of Foreign Affairs Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his Polish counterpart Radosław Sikorski.

Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, held a telephone conversation with his Polish counterpart, Radosław Sikorski. During the phone call, the two sides exchanged views on the latest regional developments following the acts of aggression committed by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran, as well as the recent declaration of cessation of hostilities by the Zionist regime.

Araghchi elaborated on the aggression perpetrated by the Zionist regime against Iran, which involved terrorist operations, the assassination of senior military figures, university professors, and Iranian civilians, and targeted attacks on Iran’s critical infrastructure, peaceful nuclear facilities, and residential areas in various cities.
He stated that the military attack by the Israeli regime constitutes a clear act of aggression under Article 39 of the United Nations Charter and a flagrant violation of Article 2(4) thereof.
The Iranian foreign minister emphasized that the international community is obligated to react strongly to such grave crimes, and that the UN Security Council must condemn the aggression and take firm measures to hold the perpetrator accountable.

Araghchi further underscored that the unlawful attacks carried out by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities constitute a severe breach of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and relevant Security Council and IAEA Board of Governors resolutions. He described these acts as a devastating blow to the rule of law, diplomacy, and the non-proliferation regime, and held the United States, Israel, and their enablers responsible for the dangerous repercussions of such criminal violations.

Araghchi reaffirmed the resolve of the Iranian people to defend themselves under Article 51 of the UN Charter, noting: “The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have demonstrated their capability and determination to resolutely resist any foreign military aggression, and they remain fully prepared to respond decisively to any further acts of aggression by the Zionist regime or its sponsors.”

Criticizing the supportive stances of certain European states toward Israel and their failure to explicitly condemn the acts of aggression by both Israel and the United States against Iran, he called on European countries to adopt a responsible and just position in response to the persistent rouge behavior of the Zionist regime in the region. Araghchi stressed that the unconditional support of some European countries and the United States for Israel’s genocidal acts in occupied Palestine and its subsequent aggressions in Lebanon and Syria is one of the key factors perpetuating the regime’s unlawful conduct.

The top Polish diplomat, for his part, welcomed the establishment of a ceasefire and expressed hope that it would contribute to the de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East. He also thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its efforts to facilitate consular cooperation between the two countries.
