Radosław Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland — whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union — held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyyed Abbas Araghchi regarding the latest developments following the Israeli military aggression against Iran.

During the call, Araghchi elaborated on the dimensions of the Zionist regime’s attack on Iran, including the targeting of civilian infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and the killing of Iranian citizens. He emphasized the responsibility of all governments and the United Nations Security Council to halt the aggression and hold the Israeli regime accountable for its violations of international law.

Araghchi described the Israeli military assault as a flagrant breach of the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law, constituting an immediate threat to global peace and security, and called on all governments — especially in Europe — to adopt responsible and principled positions in response to such lawlessness.

He also warned of Israel’s attempts to widen the conflict and draw in other regional and international actors, citing the recent targeting of Iranian oil facilities in the Persian Gulf as part of this escalation. He urged vigilance from all parties.

Araghchi reaffirmed that the Iranian nation will defend itself with full resolve in the face of such brutal aggression.

For his part, the Polish Foreign Minister expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region and reaffirmed Poland’s position, as well as that of the EU presidency, in calling on all relevant parties to help prevent further deterioration of regional security.
