Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Monday evening held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the latest regional developments following the military aggression of the Zionist regime against Iran.
Tajani expressed regret over the escalating security situation in the West Asia region and announced Italy’s readiness to assist in reducing tensions.
During the conversation, Araghchi referred to the fact that the Zionist regime has carried out an overt military aggression against Iran, flagrantly violating the fundamental principles and rules of international law.
He said the violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, the attack on nuclear facilities, the assassination of military officials, and the massacre of university professors and ordinary Iranian citizens constitute unforgivable crimes. Iran, pursuant to Article 51 of the UN Charter, is determined to exercise its right to legitimate self-defense.
Araghchi criticized the stance of some European countries for their leniency towards Israel’s violations. He said the attack on a country’s peaceful nuclear facilities is absolutely banned under international law, and everyone must condemn and hold the Zionist regime accountable for this act of rebellion.
Referring to the Zionist regime’s attacks on petrochemical facilities in southern Iran, the Iranian foreign minister warned of the extremely dangerous mischief of the Zionist regime aimed at expanding the scope of the war throughout the region and involving other countries.
