Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi continued his diplomatic engagements in Cairo and met with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on Monday.
During the meeting, the two top diplomats discussed bilateral relations and ongoing regional and international developments.
Araghchi emphasized that the exchanges and meetings between Iranian and Egyptian officials in recent months have been constructive, noting progress in various dimensions, including political, trade, and tourism ties.
Highlighting the sensitive developments in the region, particularly in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, Araghchi stressed the importance of political consultations between Iran and Egypt, as two key regional actors, as a means to help resolve crises and prevent escalating tensions.
The Egyptian foreign minister expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and stressed that talks between Cairo and Tehran on current regional developments will continue.
Both sides also emphasized the necessity of joint cooperation between Iran and Egypt to advance the initiative for a nuclear-weapon-free Middle East.
