The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, responding to a question from an IRNA reporter about the next round of indirect Iran-US talks, stated that the timing and location would be announced by the Omani mediator once finalized.

Esmaeil Baqaei clarified that, as of now, no definitive date has been set for the next round of talks. However, Oman’s proposal to hold the discussions early next week is under consideration.

The third round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, led by Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and the US President’s special representative for Middle East affairs, was held in Muscat on April 26, under the mediation of the Omani foreign minister.

Previously, Saturday, May 3, had been proposed for the fourth round of the negotiations. However, on May 1, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry informed reporters that the timing had been changed, and the indirect Iran-US talks, initially scheduled for Saturday in Rome, had been postponed.

Baqaei noted that the postponement was suggested by the Omani foreign minister and that further updates on a potential new date would be shared in due course.

Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s commitment to employing diplomacy in securing its legitimate national interests and ending economic sanctions that affect the rights and welfare of Iranians, Baqaei stated that Iran’s delegation entered the talks in good faith.

He outlined Iran’s clear negotiating framework, based on its principled positions in international law regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the lifting of unlawful sanctions.

He also reiterated Iran’s determination to pursue result-oriented discussions aimed at achieving a fair, reasonable, and sustainable agreement, adding it will remain steadfast in this path.
