Iran Mongolia hold 2nd round of political consultations in Tehran

The second round of political consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Mongolia was convened in Tehran following a seven-year hiatus. The meeting was co-chaired by Ali Asghar Mohammadi, Assistant to the Foreign Minister and Director-General for Asia and Oceania, and Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.

 

During the meeting, the Iranian official reviewed the current state of cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, cultural, and international arenas, and welcomed the prospect of expanding bilateral collaboration within the framework of multilateralism and regional and international organizations.

 

The Mongolian State Secretary, expressing satisfaction with the growth in bilateral trade over the past two years, announced Mongolia’s readiness to enhance cooperation and exchange of delegations in conjunction with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026.

 

Lkhanaajav also met with Seyyed Rasoul Mohajer, Acting Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, and provided a briefing on the outcomes of the second round of political consultations and the topics discussed and agreed upon to further advance bilateral relations
