Iranian FM meets Afghan acting minister of industry and commerce

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi who is leading an official delegation to Kabul met with the Afghan Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi.

 

 

Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is leading an official delegation to Kabul, met with the Afghan Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi.

 

During the meeting, both sides discussed the latest status of economic and trade ties between Iran and Afghanistan and explored avenues to expand economic and trade exchanges.

 

Acknowledging the deep and good relations between Iran and Afghanistan as well as historical, religious, linguistic, and cultural ties between the two nations, the caretaker Afghan minister expressed gratitude to the Iranian people for hosting millions of Afghan refugees over the past few decades.

 

Azizi provided a report on the latest trade relations between Iran and Afghanistan, highlighting the importance of improving economic ties and removing trade barriers.

 

He emphasized the need to activate Iran’s Chabahar port and facilitate the transit of goods through the Bandar Abbas port, in southern Iran.

 

Azizi also outlined the significant investment opportunities in Afghanistan, stating that the Afghan Ministry of Industry and Commerce is determined to pave the way for the growth of production, improvement of Afghanistan's economic and industrial situation, and the investment of Iranian companies.

 

The Iranian Foreign Minister, in turn, stressed the need to identify and exploit the plenty opportunities for commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries.

 

Araghchi stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the development of private sector activities in various industrial, commercial, agricultural, transportation, and transit areas.

 

Following the meeting, the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce hosted a joint meeting of Iranian and Afghan traders and economic activists, with both ministers in attendance.
