Baqaei: Necessary measures ensured for safety of Iranian embassy staff in Damascus
Esmaeil Baqaei the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to journalists’ inquiries about the latest status of the staff at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus stated: “The necessary measures have been taken to ensure the security and safety of the staff of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus. The ambassador and staff are in perfect health.”
Esmaeil Baqaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to journalists’ inquiries about the latest status of the staff at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, stated: “The necessary measures have been taken to ensure the security and safety of the staff of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus. The ambassador and staff are in perfect health.”
Responding to a question regarding reports of an attack on the Iranian Embassy building in Damascus, he strongly condemned the act. Baqaei emphasized that “The protection of the security and safety of diplomatic and consular premises and representatives is a fundamental principle of international law and relations, and compliance with it is obligatory under all circumstances.”
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has communicated warnings to influential parties in the Syrian developments regarding this matter and has called for the prevention of any recurrence of such incidents.
