Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman reacts to New Zealand and Australia’s joint statement on the the West Asia crisis

Kanaani reacted to the joint statement of New Zealand and Australia’s prime ministers about the West Asian region’s crisis.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani reacted to the joint statement of New Zealand and Australia’s prime ministers about the West Asian region’s crisis. While noting that it covers only part of the truth, Kanaani said the statement has glossed over other key points. Kanaani also stressed that calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, for efforts to protect civilians, and for swiftly sending sufficient relief aid for Gazans are all global demands, and the international community must take effective and practical measures to that end and force the Zionist regime into accepting the demands.

He said the joint statement of Australia and New Zealand once again shows the application of double standards by these countries regarding fundamental human rights, international law, and developments in the region. Kanaani further stated that overt and covert support of the regime that has been busy for more than ten consecutive months committing war crimes and genocide against the oppressed Palestinian citizens means encouraging it to continue these heinous atrocities.

He underscored that the Zionist regime’s crimes in Palestine and the wider region take a new form every day and now, regional stability and security are being threatened dangerously by the regime’s murderous acts that are in violation of the UN Charter and international law.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the provisions of the joint statement of Australia and New Zealand are a real example of turning a blind eye to realities and an effort to mislead the world public opinion.

Kanaani underlined that the UN Security Council is unable to issue a single statement condemning the Zionist regime’s terrorist move to assassinate the late head of the political office of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, who was also the former prime minister of Palestine, due to the US’s unconditional support for the Zionist regime.
He added, under these circumstances Australia and New Zealand making an illogical request of the Islamic Republic of Iran means ignoring Iran's inalienable right to punish the aggressor and restore deterrence against the Zionist regime and its adventurism.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated that the root-cause of the threats to regional and international peace and security is the racist Zionist regime and not only will Australia and New Zealand’s selective approach regarding international norms not help lower the tensions in the region, but it will also embolden the rogue Zionist regime to further increase its destabilizing acts in West Asia.
