The Iranian foreign minister’s senior advisor for special political affairs Ali Asghar Khaji has met with Syria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh on the sidelines of the Astana peace talks in the Kazakh capital.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest regional developments, especially the persistence of the Zionist regime’s genocidal war on Gaza as well as efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Syria issue and to maintain peace and stability in the region.
In the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister’s senior advisor for special political affairs spoke about the achievements of the Astana peace process in creating reduced tension zones and supporting talks between Syrian factions.
He said while Iran underlines that Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected and preserved, Tehran insists that any political solution to the Syria crisis must pursue that goal and this must be done by the
Syrian people themselves. Khaji noted that Iran and other countries that support Syria will spare no efforts to this end.
