On the second day of his presence in Davos, Switzerland, and during his first one-on-one meeting there, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has met with his Swiss counterpart Mr. Ignazio Cassis.

While thanking Switzerland for condemning the Kerman terrorist attacks, Amirabdollahian said Tehran is resolved to expand ties with Bern.

He then pointed to the talks between the two countries in various legal and judicial fields, as well as the comprehensive political talks between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Amirabdollahian then stressed the need for constructive cooperation with Switzerland within the framework of the two sides’ roadmap, adding that Tehran hopes for the continuation of the talks and cooperation to this end.

Amirabdollahian underlined the importance of continuing periodic talks with Cassis and welcomed the expert talks between the two countries in various fields and strengthening them.

Amriabdollahian spoke about the activities of the joint commission of Iran and Switzerland and the schedule of holding its upcoming meeting in Tehran, underlining the need for coordination to successfully hold the session.

The Iranian foreign minister emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to bolster cooperation between the private sector companies of the two countries.

He also welcomed cooperation in other areas of interest, especially in various economic, commercial and tourism fields.

Amirabdollahian referred to efforts to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, JCPOA, and said the Sultan of Oman's initiative is still on the table.

The top diplomat noted Iran's adherence to dialog and described Switzerland's political support for the negotiation process as important.

Amirabdollahian reaffirmed the principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding peaceful nuclear activities and said the continuation of Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency remains the country’s clear and definite policy.

He spoke about the developments in Gaza and the expansion of its dimensions in the region, saying there is no military solution to this crisis nor is its root cause the October 7 incident. Amirabdollahian said the root cause of the crisis is 75 years of occupation.

The Iranian foreign minister reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s political and democratic solution to the Palestine crisis and underscored the necessity of immediately stopping the attacks by the Israeli regime against Gaza and opening corridors to send in humanitarian aid.

Amirabdollahian described Switzerland’s role in this regard and in helping strengthen peace and stability in the region as important.

While stressing the importance of maintaining the

security of shipping in regional and international waters, including the Red Sea, Amirabdollahian said the current situation in the Red Sea is the result of developments in Gaza.

He added that the root cause of instability in the Red Sea and the broader region is the continuation of the Israeli regime's military attacks against Gaza.

Swiss Foreign Minister Mr. Ignazio Cassis, in turn, thanked Amirabdollahian for attending the Davos forum. He then referred to the telephone conversations between the two sides last November and their bilateral meeting in New York and once again extended sympathy to the government and people of Iran regarding the terrorist attack in Kerman.
