Iran FM, Pakistan envoy discuss Afghanistan
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has sat down with Asif Ali Khan Durrani, the Pakistani prime minister’s special envoy on Afghanistan, to discuss the trend of developments in Afghanistan.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has sat down with Asif Ali Khan Durrani, the Pakistani prime minister’s special envoy on Afghanistan, to discuss the trend of developments in Afghanistan.
In the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat reiterated Iran and Pakistan’s influential role in developments in the region, namely in Afghanistan, and expressed hope the continuation of such consultations will help further promote peace and tranquility in the region, especially in Afghanistan.
While reviewing the situation in Afghanistan, Amirabdollahian underline the need to support regional initiatives within the framework of neighboring countries to help resolve challenges facing Afghanistan.
Asif Ali Khan Durrani, in turn, said he was pleased with the opportunity which had arisen for exchanging views between the two sides, and offered his assessment of the developments and situation in Afghanistan in various political and security domains.
He said Pakistan is set to work with Iran to help establish peace and stability in Afghanistan
