Foreign ministers of Iran, Brazil discuss bilateral ties, BRICS

The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Brazil, in a phone call on Thursday, exchanged views on the latest pertaining to bilateral relations between the two countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian expressed satisfaction with the growing level of relations between the two countries and said, “We hope by stepping up contacts, the grounds for further expansion and furtherance of good bilateral cooperation will be provided.”

 

Meanwhile, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira highlighted the importance of Iran and Brazil’s high capacity in the economic and commercial fields and stressed that President Lula da Silva’s government is willing to boost cooperation with Iran.

 

During the conversation, both sides exchanged views on the upcoming BRICS meeting in South Africa and its expansion and strengthening.

 

The Brazilian side, while emphasizing the increasing importance of BRICS in international relations, stated that Iran has high capacities to help BRICS achieve its goals.
