Iranian FM meets with Yemeni national salvation government’s chief negotiator

In their meeting, the Iranian foreign minister and the Yemeni national salvation government’s chief negotiator underlined the need to remove the Saudi-led blockade on Yemen as a humanitarian move.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with Yemeni National Salvation Government’s top negotiator Mohammad Abdul Salam on Wednesday in the Omani capital Muscat.

In the meeting, Amirabdollahian praised the perseverance of the Yemeni people in order to achieve their rights. He also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the cause.

Amirabdollahian said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed the necessity of finding a negotiated solution to the Yemen crisis and regards political talks between Yemeni factions as an internal issue of Yemen.

The top Iranian diplomat also underlined the need to immediately lift the Saudi-led siege on Yemen as a humanitarian move so that the Yemeni people will live normal lives. 

Amirabdollahian then remembered the martyrdom anniversary of Iranian ambassador Irlou, describing the late diplomat as “Yemen’s martyr." He reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to keep supporting Yemeni people.

Abdul Salam for his part thanked Iran for its support of Yemen and briefed the Iranian foreign minister on the latest development in the Arab country.
