Iranian deputy FM Bagheri underlines cooperation in international and regional bodies in meeting with Bangladesh’s state minister of foreign relations

During his visit to Bangladesh, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri on Thursday met with Bangladeshi State Minister of Foreign Relations Shahriar Alam.
In the meeting, the two officials underlined the need for Iran and Bangladesh to cooperate in international and regional bodies such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Internparliamentary Union of Islamic Countries. Bagheri and Alam said closer cooperation between the Economic Cooperation Organization and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) would be an efficient framework for boosting regional economic cooperation.
On the first day of his official visit to Bangladesh, the Iranian deputy foreign minister met with Muhammad Faruk Khan, Chair of Bangladeshi Parliament’s Permanent Committee of Foreign Affairs. In the meeting, Bagheri underlined the need to exchange parliamentary delegations including parliament speakers of both sides, foreign relations committees and parliamentary friendship groups in order to strengthen interactions between the legislative bodies of Iran and Bangladesh.
