Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has sat down with his opposite number from Venezuela Carlos Faria on the margins of the 77th meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.
During their talks, the two top diplomats discussed issues of mutual interest, including the latest trend of reciprocal ties.

In the meeting, Amirabdollahian reviewed the latest status of Iran’s relations with Venezuela, and termed as significant Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s recent trip to Tehran.
“Following the conclusion of comprehensive cooperation accords between the two countries, a top priority on [Iran’s] foreign policy agenda is to implement these agreements, and a meeting of the joint [cooperation] commission can expedite the implementation of mutual agreements,” said Amirabdollahian.

The top Venezuelan diplomat, in turn, said he was pleased with the progress in bilateral cooperation on different fronts, and highlighted the Venezuelan leader’s determination to forge closer ties with Iran.
He also underscored the need to upgrade the level of contacts and increase the number of visits by both countries’ officials.
