The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Deputy for Political Affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, has stressed that Iran’s foreign policy and defensive policy act together in a synergetic manner and complement each other. Bagheri was speaking on Sunday on the eve of the Day of Army and in a gathering of the commanders and officials of the Ideological and Political Branch of the Army. He underlined that the enemy’s plot to drive a wedge between Iran’s foreign policy and defensive policy was foiled thanks to resistance learned from the prudence and vigilance of the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.
The deputy foreign minister said resistance does not merely mean a defensive mechanism in the face of aggression by invaders against a country’s territorial integrity and the violation of a country’s independence. Bagheri said the discipline hailing from the discourse of resistance brings stability and security and is lasting, inclusive and dynamic. He noted that lasting regional security is contingent upon explicit, transparent and unconditional rejection of aggression and occupation.
Bagheri added that Western powers sent blood-thirsty terrorists with the logic of weapon to war on the human culture and civilization and unleashed al-Qaeda and Daesh on regional nations, but the resistance proved its superiority with the weapon of logic and by moving toward developing an identity for human beings and creating civilizations for nations in order to realize the goal of progress in light of security. Bagheri also referred to some efforts to portray the resistance as a current that acts against order and causes chaos. He said it’s been proved in practice that the inclusive doctrine of resistance is meant to efficiently run the society and help free humans achieve excellence and give identity to independent nations.
Bagheri added that during the imposed war some powers also tried to depict Iran as the party causing tension and chaos and portray Saddam as the axis of stability and peace but history proved that aggression and occupation does not bring order and stability. He noted, “Therefore, we today believe that the nature of the Zionists’ aggression and occupation is not only destabilizing and causes tension but creating tension and chaos is also a major component of the nature of Zionists.”
Bagheri then likened some regional countries’ interaction with the Zionist regime to taking refuge in the frightening lair of a wolf to escape the blissful spring rain. The deputy foreign minister underlined, “We will never forget Imam Khomeini’s advice to the leaders of regional countries during the imposed war when he cautioned them against supporting Saddam and said ‘If Saddam gets the opportunity, he will come after you’, and we all saw what Saddam did to them after being defeated in his confrontation with Iran”. “For this reason, friendship with the Zionists will exactly lead to the same result”, Bagheri added.
