Ayatollah Raisi in response to a phone call from Japanese PM: Tehran welcomes development of relations with Tokyo

Emphasising the need to develop Tehran-Tokyo bilateral relations, the President said, "The US government's adherence to the failed policies of the former administration is the main obstacle to the acceptable progress of the negotiations".

Speaking on Wednesday evening with the Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi welcomed the expression of interest and desire of the country to strengthen the level of bilateral relations and cooperation and said, "Iran and Japan are two peace-loving countries with glorious civilisation and history, and the strengthening of their relations is in the interest of all nations".
The President said, "With the knowledge of the capabilities of the two countries that we have, we can take big steps to strengthen Tehran-Tokyo relations".
Dr Raisi described the US government's adherence to the failed policies of the former US administration as the main obstacle to the acceptable progress of the negotiations and added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to promote the level its relations and cooperation with other countries, including Japan, for mutual benefit".
Ayatollah Raisi also stressed the need for lasting peace and stability in the world and said, "Tehran and Tokyo can play an effective role in creating and promoting peace and stability in the region and the world by strengthening cooperation".
The President called the interference of outsiders the main cause of insecurity in the region and stressed the need to resolve the Yemeni crisis through Yemeni-Yemeni talks, adding, "Today, it is necessary to prevent the horrific crime of the coalition forces in the massacre of the defencelessness people of Yemen by breaking the oppressive siege of the country".
At the same phone call, the Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio congratulated the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, and said, "I have travelled to Tehran several times during my tenure as the Foreign Minister and the presidency of the Iran-Japan Friendship Group, and today, as the Prime Minister, with the knowledge that I have of the potentials of the two countries, I am looking to develop the level of relations and activate the capacities of joint cooperation".
