Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh has rejected as repetitive and baseless accusations of the final communiqué of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council summit meeting against the Islamic Republic, saying such statements are a sign of the continuation of an unconstructive and flawed view of some member states of the GCC.
He added that it was thought that with the recent series of diplomatic actions and movements between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the GCC, we would see a new attitude from the council towards regional cooperation. Khatibzadeh called on the few GCC members that are still hiding behind the council and expressing their unconstructive positions in the name of the body to reconsider their views and approaches to regional issues and replace repeated accusations with cooperation.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman said, "Unfortunately, the continuation of the war in Yemen, the increase of foreign militarism and the arrival of the destructive element of the Zionist regime is threatening the security and stability of the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed its concern."
Khatibzadeh went on to say Iran does not tolerate any interference in its peaceful nuclear program, missile defense program and matters related to its military policies and deterrence.
He once again reiterated the unchanging and unequivocal position of Iran, saying the three Iranian islands of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs are an integral and eternal part of Iran’s territory. Khatibzadeh added that the Islamic Republic considers any territorial claim to these islands as interference in its internal affairs and territory and condemns it strongly.
He said all actions of Iran on the islands have been carried out in line with inalienable rights and in accordance with the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and
and the repetition of these meddling stances in any form is totally unacceptable and does not and will not have any impact on the existing legal and historical realities.
In the end, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman underlined that the new government of the Islamic Republic, based on its strategic vision and principled policies, has always believed that the solution to the region's problems is interaction and cooperation with neighbors and it welcomes positive initiatives aimed at developing relations with them in accordance with international rules and regulations.
