In a telephone conversation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Tuesday, Dr Hassan Rouhani referred to Iran's plans and achievements in fighting coronavirus, including the production of diagnostic kits by knowledge-based companies, and added, "The Islamic Republic Iran is ready to transfer its experience and scientific and technological cooperation with Serbia in this regard".

Welcoming the proposal to develop trade and economic relations between the two countries, the President called it a necessity in order to ensure the interests of the two nations and said, "The officials of the two countries should use all available capacities and opportunities to develop cooperation and joint economic activities".

Dr Rouhani stressed, "We must not allow the oppressive US sanctions to disrupt the development of economic relations between the two countries, so that we can use the cooperation capacities to take steps in the interests of the two nations".

Referring to the common positions on combatting unilateralism and the need for further cooperation between the two countries in international agencies and organisations, the President said, "The two Iranian and Serbian nations have always stood up to foreign interference in order to maintain their independence and have not allowed foreigners to interfere in their internal affairs".

"All countries and governments must help each other in this situation so that we can overcome this disease," said Aleksandar Vučić during the same telephone conversation, referring to the spread of coronavirus in the world.

We have always been against sanctions and pressure on Iran, and we stand with the Iranian people, he said, adding, "We must seize the opportunity and use our efforts to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including economic, trade, scientific, cultural, technological, tourism and academic, in the interests of the two nations".

President Vučić also praised Iran's independent approach to various international issues, including respect for territorial integrity and the sovereignty of nations and states.
