Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei has rejected baseless claims by Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, alleging Iran’s interference in the Saudi Arabia-Yemen conflict, stating that the European Union itself is complicit in gross human rights violations in Yemen due to its participation in sanctions and the economic blockade imposed on the Yemeni people. He stressed that European officials cannot absolve themselves of responsibility through blame-shifting remarks. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also categorically rejected claims about the presence of Iranian military experts in Yemen, stressing that the dissemination of such fake reports is intended to cover up the realities and divert public attention. Baqaei noted that the Yemeni people have demonstrated that they possess the necessary capabilities, experience, courage, and determination to defend their national sovereignty and human dignity, and have no need for the intervention of any party in this regard.Condemning military attacks on various parts of Yemen, particularly civilian facilities, vital infrastructure, and residential areas, which have resulted in the martyrdom of more than 270 Yemeni Muslims, including 130 children and women, and injured over 650 others, as well as the destruction of infrastructure and people's homes, Baqaei called for an end to acts of aggression against Yemen's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.Reiterating Iran's principled position on the ongoing conflict in the Arabian Peninsula, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that establishing peace in the Arabian Peninsula requires an end to military attacks, respect for the Yemeni people's right to self-determination, the lifting of the naval and aerial blockade imposed on the country, and dialogue based on the roadmap agreed upon by Yemenis and Saudi Arabia. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide any assistance in this regard.Criticizing the continued exploitation of the UN Security Council to justify the inhumane blockade of Yemen, Baqaei stressed the need for an immediate halt to military attacks and the complete lifting of the blockade and illegal restrictions imposed on the country.
