Esmail Baghaei, Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, during a visit to Lamerd County, paid tribute to the martyrs of the US and Israeli regime’s attacks. Baghaei visited areas of the county that were damaged and subjected to missile strikes, stressing the need to explain the dimensions of the crime committed against the Iranian people, and announcing that the attacks would be documented and legally pursued through international forums and institutions. Upon his arrival in Lamerd County, Baghaei was welcomed by local officials and a number of county managers. He then visited the Lamerd Martyrs’ Cemetery, where he paid tribute to the high status of the martyrs of the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime. The Foreign Ministry Spokesman also met with the family of Dr. Hamid Amini, a national scientific figure who was martyred in the US-Israeli military aggression. He stressed the need to present to the world the crime committed against the Iranian people on February 28 and called for its dimensions to be introduced to international public opinion. Referring to Martyr Amini’s scientific and national standing, Baghaei told his family: “Your martyr belongs to Lamerd, Fars and Iran.” The Foreign Ministry Spokesman then visited some residential areas and a sports hall that were targeted in the crime committed by the criminal US and Israeli regimes on February 28, and observed firsthand the damage and traces left behind by the attacks. At a press conference held at the Lamerd sports stadium in the presence of a number of domestic and foreign media journalists, Baghaei, referring to the martyrdom of 21 Lamerd residents in the US-Israeli military aggression, stressed the importance of documenting and recounting the human dimensions of the incident and said: “Each and every one of the Lamerd martyrs is dear and cherished by the Iranian nation, and their blood will not be in vain.” He described the targeting of civilians and residential areas as an explicit violation of the rules and norms of international law, stressing that the dimensions of these attacks must be explained to the Iranian and global public opinion accurately, with documentation and based on facts. The Foreign Ministry Spokesman added: “What happened in Lamerd is not merely a local incident; rather, it is a clear example of the consequences of military attacks against civilian areas and ordinary people, and it is necessary for the dimensions of this crime to be properly recounted to international public opinion.” Emphasizing that documenting the incident, collecting evidence, recording the damage and documenting accounts related to the victims are necessary requirements for pursuing the issue, he said: “These documents can be used in the process of raising the issue before international forums and institutions and for examining the responsibility of those who carried out the attacks.” He also announced that the legal case concerning the US attack on Lamerd would be pursued through international forums, stressing that the diplomatic apparatus of the Islamic Republic of Iran would seriously pursue, using all available means, the demand for justice and the accountability and punishment of those who ordered and carried out the crime in Lamerd. The Foreign Ministry Spokesman, stressing the need to prevent distortion of the facts related to these attacks, said: “Accurately recounting what happened to the people of Lamerd and documenting the testimonies and traces of this crime are part of the responsibility of the diplomatic apparatus to inform world public opinion about the human dimensions of attacks against civilians.”
