The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the decision of the new British ruling establishment to make the country's military bases and facilities available for the preparation and facilitation of the United States' unlawful military attacks against the Iranian nation. This decision is in clear violation of the fundamental principles and rules of the United Nations Charter and international law and, under Article 3(f) of UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 on the Definition of Aggression, and constitutes an act of aggression against Iran.British policymakers have taken this decision despite being fully aware that the U.S. military attacks against Iran—which began with the participation of the occupying and genocidal Israeli regime and have continued ever since—constitute a manifest act of aggression and a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and peremptory norms of international law. Any participation or cooperation in the planning and execution of these unlawful attacks amounts to complicity in the crime of aggression and war crimes.Instead of fulfilling its legal and moral obligations—both in its national capacity and as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council—to condemn the U.S. and Israeli military aggression and war crimes against Iran, the British government has chosen to align itself with the aggressors, reducing its standing to that of an accomplice of the United States and Israel in a brutal war against the Iranian nation. Undoubtedly, this decision further undermines Britain's claims of supporting the rule of law, human rights, and international peace and security. The British ruling establishment's decision to support the unlawful U.S.-Israeli war against Iran not only violates its international legal obligations to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also recalls Britain's long history of oppression and interference against the Iranian nation. This history reached its peak with the 1953 coup d'état and subsequently continued through Britain's comprehensive support for Saddam Hussein's regime during the eight-year imposed war, the imposition of unlawful sanctions under the pretext of the nuclear issue, its alignment with the United States on the so-called "snapback" mechanism, and, most recently, its disgraceful labeling of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).The Islamic Republic of Iran remains firmly determined to defend its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests and security against foreign aggression. Any party that, in any manner, participates in military aggression against Iran will bear responsibility for the consequences and repercussions of its decision.
