Najaf Governor meets Iranian Foreign Minister

At noon on Monday, Yousef Kanawi, Governor of Najaf, met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is visiting Iraq for official talks with Iraqi officials and to coordinate arrangements for the funeral procession of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the arrangements for the funeral procession of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the necessary coordination for hosting the official delegations and pilgrims expected to participate in the ceremonies. The Governor of Najaf extended his condolences on the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, describing him as an unparalleled and multifaceted figure whose life was a source of unique achievements and blessings for the Islamic world, and whose martyrdom will serve as an enduring source of inspiration for the Islamic Ummah and all freedom-loving people around the world. The Governor also announced the full readiness of Najaf's local authorities to mobilize all available administrative, service, and security capacities to ensure the funeral ceremonies are held in the most dignified and magnificent manner possible. He described the event as a historic occasion that would further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the peoples of Iran and Iraq. For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the positions taken by Iraqi officials, the senior religious authorities, and the people of Najaf in expressing solidarity with and support for the Iranian nation. He also thanked the province's local authorities for their cooperation in organizing the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, describing this solidarity as a manifestation of the profound religious and humanitarian ties between the peoples of Iran and Iraq.
