Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who arrived in Baghdad at the head of a diplomatic delegation for consultations with senior Iraqi officials, met and held talks on Sunday morning with Fuad Hussein, Iraq's Minister of Foreign Affairs. Expressing appreciation for the responsible positions adopted by the Iraqi government and the support shown by various segments of the Iraqi people for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of the military aggression carried out by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, the Iranian Foreign Minister described Tehran-Baghdad relations as exceptional and underscored the determination of the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran to further strengthen bilateral ties across all areas of mutual interest. Araghchi also congratulated Iraq on the formation of its new government and expressed hope that, under the shared commitment of the leaders and officials of the two countries, cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq would continue to expand in the political, economic, commercial, cultural, security, and people-to-people spheres, while creating new opportunities for the further development of bilateral relations. The Iranian Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude for the measures taken and cooperation extended by the Iraqi government in facilitating the broad participation of the Iraqi people in the funeral procession of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, describing this solidarity as a manifestation of the deep historical, cultural, and religious bonds between the two nations. For his part, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized the need to establish new mechanisms for ensuring regional security through the participation of all countries in the region, describing such an initiative as a fundamental step toward confidence-building and the creation of an indigenous and sustainable regional security framework. The Iranian and Iraqi foreign ministers also reviewed the latest regional and international developments, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, the implementation of the agreement on ending the Zionist regime's military aggression against Lebanon, developments following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, and the latest progress in the ongoing negotiations. The two sides stressed the importance of all parties fully adhering to the commitments contained in the Memorandum of Understanding, emphasizing that its complete implementation is essential to consolidating peace, reducing tensions, and strengthening regional stability and security. The meeting also included a review of the latest state of bilateral relations and joint cooperation in various fields. Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining political consultations, expanding economic and trade cooperation, facilitating people-to-people exchanges, and broadening bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. They reaffirmed the shared determination of Tehran and Baghdad to further elevate the strategic relationship between the two countries
