Cypriot Foreign Minister holds phone call with top Iranian diplomat

Constantinos Kombos, Foreign Minister of Cyprus, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, held a telephone conversation at noon on Thursday with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the call, Iran's foreign minister outlined the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war of aggression waged by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, expressing hope that the agreement would contribute to the restoration of peace and stability in the region. Araghchi described the end of the war in Lebanon as an integral part of the ceasefire understanding and, recalling the Israeli regime's record of warmongering, stressed the responsibility of the United States and European countries to exert pressure on Tel Aviv to bring a complete halt to the regime's aggression against Lebanon. The Cypriot foreign minister welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, describing it as an important step toward strengthening regional and international security and stability. He also expressed satisfaction with the normalization of shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz.
