The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, held a telephone conversation on Tuesday night with the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Iván Gil Pinto, discussing bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Caribbean region.
During the phone call, the two sides reviewed relations and cooperation in various fields, including economic, trade, and technological issues.
Both parties emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as within the framework of South-South cooperation.
They also exchanged views on international developments and the latest situation in the Caribbean and Latin America.
The Iranian foreign minister condemned the bullying approach of the US toward Venezuela and other independent developing countries in the Western Hemisphere, considering the threat of using force against Venezuela a clear and flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and peremptory norms of international law.
He stressed the collective responsibility of the international community to safeguard the principles and objectives of the UN against America’s aggressive unilateralism.
Araghchi further referred to the activities of the Zionist regime in the Caribbean and Latin America, describing them as a major threat to peace, stability, and security in the region.
He underlined the responsibility of all governments to prosecute and punish the officials of the regime, who are being pursued for committing genocide and other heinous crimes.
The Venezuelan foreign minister, expressing gratitude for the principled positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasized the importance of strengthening strategic relations between Tehran and Caracas, and reaffirmed the steadfastness and resistance of the Venezuelan people and government in the face of US pressures and illegal interventions.
