Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira held a telephone conversation on Wednesday afternoon to discuss bilateral relations and international developments.
During their conversation, the two sides reviewed the state of bilateral ties and underscored the importance of expanding relations and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Araghchi and Vieira also underscored the significance of strengthening cooperation within international organizations.
Referring to the need to prevent certain countries from exploiting international institutions as tools to pressure developing nations, Iran’s foreign minister spoke about the inappropriate move by three European countries to push for a resolution against Iran at the upcoming meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.
He said this step is an irresponsible, provocative, and unjustified action, designed as a continuation of the political approach pursued by the European troika and the US at the UN Security Council to reinstate annulled resolutions, an approach that further undermines the credibility and technical standing of the IAEA.
Araghchi called on all member states of the IAEA Board of Governors to oppose this unlawful initiative by the three European countries.
Both sides further stressed the importance of maintaining diplomatic cooperation and continuing regular consultations, discussing the path forward for future engagements.
