Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is leading an official delegation to Algeria, met this Tuesday noon with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf.   During the meeting, the two sides held extensive consultations on the current state of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments, with particular emphasis on the escalating insecurity in West Asia caused by the lawlessness and expansionist policies of the Zionist regime.   The Algerian Foreign Minister, while welcoming the presence of the high-level Iranian delegation in Algiers, described the relationship between Iran and Algeria as exemplary and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in all mutually desired fields.   Seyed Abbas Araghchi, referring to the historical, robust, and deeply-rooted relations between the two major Islamic nations, expressed satisfaction with the excellent level of political ties and reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran’s resolve and readiness to enhance relations in all domains, particularly in the economic and commercial sectors.   Araghchi also outlined Iran’s position on the catastrophic situation in West Asia, stemming from the ongoing atrocities committed by the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine and its repeated aggressions against Lebanon and Syria, including persistent violations of ceasefires and blatant disregard for all norms and principles of international law, international humanitarian law, and human rights. He called for the mobilization of the diplomatic capacities of Islamic countries to put an end to the genocide in Palestine and to prevent further destabilization of the region by the occupying regime.   Araghchi condemned the continued complicity and partnership of certain Western governments—particularly the United States—in the Zionist regime’s crimes and aggressions, describing the normalization of criminality and malevolence as the greatest threat to peace, stability, and the rule of law in the region and the world. He emphasized the responsibility of all states, especially Islamic governments, to speak with one voice and act in unity in confronting this dangerous trend.   Expressing deep concern over the trajectory of regional and global developments—especially the continued massacre and genocide of the Palestinian people, the sinister plot to forcibly displace them from their ancestral homeland, and the military occupation of Syria and Lebanon—both parties underscored that confronting the far-reaching consequences of these crises requires vigilance and cooperation among all nations.   The Algerian Foreign Minister noted that, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Algeria has undertaken significant efforts to preserve international peace and security, including working to build international consensus to halt the crimes and aggressions of the Zionist regime in the region, and will continue these efforts.   The two sides also held discussions on avenues to expand bilateral economic cooperation and increase coordination and mutual support in multilateral settings and international organizations
