The spokesman for the Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the brutal U.S. and UK airstrikes on various regions of Yemen, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens, including innocent women and children.
Esmaeil Baqaei underscored that the U.S. and UK military aggression constitutes a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the prohibition on the use of force and the obligation to respect the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of states.
Baqaei further highlighted the responsibility of the United Nations and the Security Council to address these violations and the threat they pose to international peace and security.
He characterized the joint U.S.-UK military assault against the resilient people of Yemen as a continuation of their unwavering support for the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and an attempt to suppress any form of solidarity with and advocacy for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation.
The spokesperson emphasized that the root cause of insecurity in West Asia lies in the ongoing massacres and occupation in Palestine, which have been perpetuated through the comprehensive support of the United States, the United Kingdom, and certain other Western countries, thereby placing regional and international peace and security under unprecedented threat.
Baghaei also reminded all governments, international organizations, and Islamic institutions of their legal and moral responsibility to confront the continued genocide and ethnic cleansing in occupied Palestine—a crime being perpetrated through various means, including the deliberate imposition of hunger and famine upon the oppressed Palestinian people during the holy month of Ramadan. He called for urgent action to address this humanitarian catastrophe.
