The three-way talks between Iran, Russia, and China by the deputy foreign ministers of the three countries over the Iran nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions against Tehran ended with participants issuing a joint statement.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi said various issues were underlined in this meeting including:-The necessity of ending illegal unilateral sanctions; - Emphasizing diplomatic solutions and dialogue to resolve issues; - The need to abandon the policy of imposing sanctions, pressure, and the threat to use force; - The need to pay attention to the root causes of the current situation, especially the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA and the failure of the European Troika to fulfill their commitments;-Underlining the importance of Resolution 2231 and its timelines, especially the closure of the Iranian nuclear case in the Security Council in October 2025; - Stressing the need for other parties to refrain from taking any action that would aggravate the situation; - underscoring the necessity of other sides refraining from any action that would undermine the technical, objective, and impartial work of the IAEA;-Deciding to continue consultations, cooperation, and coordination between the three countries on this matter and other issues of mutual interest; -Deciding to strengthen cooperation and coordination in international organizations and groupings such as Shanghai and BRICS; -Underlining that any negotiations and discussions will be solely focused on the nuclear issue and the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions.
Meanwhile, following the meeting, the deputy foreign ministers of the three countries held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister held separate one-on-one meetings with his counterparts from China and Russia during which ways of expanding bilateral ties and international cooperation were explored.
