Issa Kameli, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General of the Foreign Ministry's Americas Department, dismissed the accusations made in the U.S. Department of Justice’s statement against Iranian national Mohammad Reza Nouri. Kameli emphasized that such claims are rooted in politically charged stereotypes against the Islamic Republic of Iran, presented without any rational evidence, and constitute a violation of the fundamental human rights of the accused.    He highlighted the necessity of stability and peace in the region, pointing to the historical interference and destabilizing actions of the U.S., as well as its continuous efforts to incite discord and provoke divisions among neighboring countries.   Kameli noted that regional nations, understanding their long-term and overarching interests, will prevent a new wave of divisive schemes and disruptions to inter-state relations, while steadfastly pursuing a neighborhood policy aimed at strengthening bonds of friendship and goodwill.    Kameli reiterated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of its inherent responsibilities, will persistently and vigorously advocate for and protect the rights of Iranian citizens worldwide.    Addressing the recent situation involving two other Iranian citizens who were arrested in the U.S. and Italy under baseless allegations of supplying drone components to Iran, Kameli criticized the U.S. judicial system for being weaponized to issue unfounded and politically motivated rulings. He stated that such actions, often justified by claims of circumventing unilateral U.S. sanctions—which lack legitimacy under international law and contradict established human rights norms—constitute wrongful conduct by the U.S. government and entail its international responsibility.    Kameli further underscored the obligation of states to uphold human rights and refrain from enforcing unlawful and illegitimate U.S. judicial orders against Iranian citizens. He called on the Italian government to prevent the violation of the human rights of the Iranian citizen unjustly accused by the U.S., facilitate his immediate release, and ensure his return to his family without delay
