We had a very good meeting within the framework of the Astana group between the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, and Turkey. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Pedersen, the UN chief’s Special Envoy for Syria, also joined us. Current and pressing issues in Syria, which are very critical, were discussed and we exchanged views on those issues. There was a consensus among all participants that the hostilities must cease immediately; the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria must be respected; all sides must abide by the UN resolution in this regard; and most importantly, political dialogue between the Syrian government and legitimate opposition groups should commence. These were the requests made [by participants] at this meeting. It was decided that we would consult with the Syrian government regarding this matter, and I will have my consultations. Russia was also to consult with the Syrian government and other countries to move the issues forward.
