Iran Turkey discuss regional security amid ongoing conflicts

Ali Asghar Khaji, a Senior Advisor to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs and Iran's chief negotiator, met on Monday with Turkey's chief negotiator Mustafa Yurdakul and his delegation in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The bilateral meeting was held within the framework of the 22nd international Astana Process meetings. Both sides discussed the latest regional situation, political and field developments in Syria, especially in the context of the Zionist regime's crimes and aggressive actions in the region. Khaji condemned the Zionist regime's aggressive attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank and the genocide against the Palestinian people under the U.S. support. The senior advisor warned of the Zionist expansionist goals in the region, particularly in Syria. He emphasized the need for an effective strategy to counter these ambitions which are aimed at changing the realities on the ground in the region. Khaji also expressed support for the prospects of talks to normalize ties between Syria and Turkey and highlighted the positive outcomes of this process at the current critical juncture in the region. For his part, the head of the Turkish delegation expressed concern over the ongoing attacks and aggressions by the Zionist regime in the region, calling for an end to the actions. Both sides stressed the need to advance political processes and support peace initiatives in Syria.
