Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pederson met and held consultations over the developments in the West Asia region and the Syria situation on the sidelines of the 79th meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.  In the meeting, the UN special envoy for Syria referred to the developments in Syria and briefed Araghchi on the latest measures in this regard. Iran’s top diplomat in turn said he supports the efforts of the UN in Syria. Araghchi said foreign forces must leave the Syrian territory and the reconstruction of the country must begin as soon as possible. Also on the developments in Gaza and Lebanon, Araghchi noted that the crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon are being committed out of desperation and that they will not go unanswered.
