Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Cong Peiwu has held a meeting with Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri during which they discussed the latest developments in bilateral ties and the most important issues regarding regional and international cooperation spheres. Bagheri spoke about the huge capacities of cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People's Republic of China, stressing the mutual will of the leaders and governments of the two nations to advance cooperation.
The acting Iranian foreign minister said the promotion of cooperation between Tehran and Beijing as two influential players in the international arena as well as in multilateral mechanisms, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS group, complements their expanding cooperation.
Describing China's position and views on the Gaza developments as positive, Bagheri underscored the need to strengthen consultations for an immediate and unconditional end to the crimes and genocidal war of the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza.
In the meeting, the Chinese ambassador also gave a report on the third meeting of the 20th Central Standing Committee of the ruling party of China and the recent meeting of fourteen Palestinian groups in Beijing.
Cong Peiwu described the political mutual trust between the two countries as solid foundation for cooperation in light of the consensus between the leaders of the two countries. Cong stressed the Chinese government’s resolve to implement the comprehensive partnership treaty between Iran and China.
Referring to the Chinese president’s congratulatory message to Iran’s President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian, he underlined Beijing’s determination to pursue bilateral agreements and promote multilateral cooperation. Cong added that a high-level delegation from China will participate in the president-elect’s oath-taking ceremony.
