Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, met with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad in Damascus.   Expressing satisfaction with the meeting, Amirabdollahian considered joint consultations on bilateral and regional issues important.   He emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts to realize and implement the agreements reached between the two Presidents and the documents signed during the previous visit of the Iranian President to Syria.   The top Iranian diplomat deemed the role of the private sector in the economic relations of the two countries important. He added: "It is imperative to remove obstacles in this field and expedite cooperation with joint efforts."   Amirabdollahian emphasized activating the economic capacities of the two countries to the maximum extent to be in the interest of both nations and stressed the need to increase joint efforts in this field.   Faisal Mekdad, in turn, expressing satisfaction with the meeting with his Iranian counterpart, considered Amirabdollahian's visit to Damascus important at this point in time. Referring to the regional conditions, he emphasized the importance of holding such joint consultations for the two countries.   Addressing the developments in Gaza and the strong support of the two countries for the Palestinian issue, he said, "Thanks to the persistence of the resistance, the developments in Palestine, despite all the crimes committed by the Zionists, are progressing in a promising direction for the benefit of the Palestinian nation. Palestine and the axis of resistance are the winners of this battle, and we are all proud of the resistance and its achievements in Palestine."   He added that the developments over the last four months exposed the true and criminal face of the Israeli regime to the whole world.   Mekdad emphasized that the coordination between Iran and Syria in important regional and international issues will continue strongly.   He considered the development of bilateral relations between Tehran and Damascus important in various fields and emphasized Syria's readiness to implement the orders and recommendations of the Presidents of the two countries. He further thanked and appreciated Iran's standing by Syria.
