Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian hailed the prominent role of Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in the country’s political arena and also his support for Palestine.   Amirabdollahian further reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the political process of Lebanon and the country’s stability and security.   He said Tehran’s backing for the resistance and the Palestinian people is an unchangeable principle for the Islamic Republic of Iran.   The foreign minister added that all effective regional and international actors admit that despite the atrocities and killings by the Zionist regime, the war against Gaza has failed, and this is while the US has thrown its full support behind the Zionist entity. Amirabdollahian underlined that unfortunately, there are still no signs of willingness on part of the US to end the war and this is contrary to Washington’s claim that it does not want the conflict to spill over across the region.   He also underscored that the US and Britain committed a strategic error by attacking Yemen, and by violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, they are just fueling the crisis in the region and the Red Sea.   While reiterating that war is not the solution nor will it produce any results for the warmongers, , Amirabdollahian stressed that the crisis can only be resolved through putting an end to the onslaught against Gaza and giving the Palestinians an opportunity to decide on how they want to run Gaza and the West Bank after the war.   The Lebanese parliament speaker for his part thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting Lebanon. Berri then underlined the need for Lebanon to elect a president and get out of this current situation. Berri also briefed Amirabdollahian on the latest state of political affairs in Lebanon.   He described the Palestinian issue as one of righteousness versus falsehood and hailed Iran’s backing for Palestine.   The Lebanese parliament speaker stressed the necessity of continuing efforts to push for an immediate cessation of the war against Palestinians. Berri further praised the heroic resistance of the Palestinian people, saying, “We support an agreement between Palestinian factions to run the Palestinian territories”.
