Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has reacted to comments of Azerbaijani President Mr. Elham Aliyev about the recent attack on the Azeri embassy in Tehran. Kanaani said Azerbaijan should avoid any prejudgment as well as politicization of the issue and using it for propaganda purposes.
He added that the media scheme which is aimed at non-legal interpretations of the incident is not a constructive move toward legal and judicial pursuit of the case.
Kanaani noted that just as relevant Iranian officials have reiterated time and again, the issue is running its legal course. He said what was announced by authorities was based on explicit statements of the attacker and, naturally, all aspects of this bitter incident are being reviewed and investigated carefully and in a specialized manner.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that just as it was declared in diplomatic missives and contacts between senior political and judicial officials of the two countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to share the results of its probe with the Azeri side. Kanaani said, “We are confident that in a cooperative atmosphere where a constructive approach is adopted, Azerbaijani will receive the necessary response regarding all ambiguities and their questions about the incident."
