Speaking before noon on Tuesday at the ceremony of receiving the letter of credence of Stylianos Gavril, the new ambassador of Greece to Tehran, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi emphasised the role of the ancient and deep-rooted civilisations of the two countries in the emergence and evolution of civilisation, and expressed hope that the close and friendly relations between Iran and Greece is a suitable platform for developing cooperation in various economic, political and cultural fields.Pointing out that the cruel sanctions could not stop the Islamic Republic of Iran from growth and development, the President added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the development of relations with Greece and we believe that this goal can be achieved".In this ceremony, the new ambassador of Greece to Tehran Stylianos Gavril also stated that the Greek view Iranians as a great and proud nation in the world, and today the Islamic Republic is an important and influential country not only in the region, but also in the world, adding, "Iran and Greece have historical commonalities and cooperation with each other, and based on the principle of mutual respect in its foreign policy, Greece seeks to deepen relations with Iran in areas of mutual interest".
