Iran, Azerbaijan FMs hold phone talks, underline regional security
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, in a phone call with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov on Saturday, exchanged views on the most important issues in the bilateral, regional and international fields.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, in a phone call with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov on Saturday, exchanged views on the most important issues in the bilateral, regional and international fields. Amirabdollahian referred to the depth of Iran-Azerbaijan relations and described the recent meeting between the presidents of the two countries on the sidelines of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) member states’ summit in the Kazakh capital, Astana, as important. Referring to the recent developments in the Caucasus region, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized on supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries including the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, stressing that the approach is the permanent policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Amirabdollahian said the presence of foreign forces in the Caucasus is a common concern of the regional countries and emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s opposition to the deployment of any foreign forces in the region. Meanwhile, Jeyhun Bayramov foreign minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan called the relations between the two countries important and stable. While opposing the presence of foreign forces in the region, he supported the Islamic Republic of Iran’s stance in this regard.
